The cleanest floss your mouth and microbiome will ever meet.

Most floss is coated in Teflon. Ours isn't. To slide between teeth, conventional floss is usually coated in PTFE, the same compound behind nonstick pans and one of the PFAS compounds known as forever chemicals. Your gums are absorptive tissue, so what sits against them twice a day is worth paying attention to.

Fygg starts over with two ingredients your body already knows. Pure silk gives a natural glide with no plastic and no coating. Bee propolis, the resin honeybees use to protect their hive, has been studied for antibacterial and gum-supporting properties, and a little reaches the gumline every time you floss.

It cleans between teeth without disrupting the balance of your mouth. And because it is a natural protein fiber, it breaks down when you are finished instead of lingering as plastic waste.

What's on your floss

Glide has to come from somewhere.

Floss has to slip through a contact point tighter than a sheet of paper. Conventional floss solves that with a coating, and that coating is usually PTFE, the same compound behind nonstick pans and one of the PFAS group known as forever chemicals.

Silk solves it differently. The fiber is fine and strong enough on its own, so the glide comes from the material rather than from something added on top of it.

Because floss is drawn against gum tissue and held there twice a day, what coats the strand is worth knowing. Fygg contains no PFAS of any kind.

Silk is a protein fiber your body recognizes. Nylon and PTFE are plastics, and PTFE is one of the PFAS compounds. The fiber is the product, so it is the first thing worth checking.

This is the whole argument in one line. If the glide is built into the material, you do not need to add anything to get it. Everything conventional floss adds is solving a problem silk does not have.

PFAS are built to resist breaking down, which is exactly why they persist in the body. Floss is a small exposure next to cookware or water, but it is one you choose, and it is an easy one to remove.

Most floss is neutral at best. Propolis has been studied for antibacterial and gum-supporting properties, so the strand does something for the tissue it touches instead of just passing through.

Synthetic mint on floss is a flavor, not a cleaning agent. It masks the plastic. Take the plastic out and there is nothing left to mask.

You throw away roughly eighteen inches of floss every day. Silk is a natural protein fiber, so it returns to the earth. Nylon does not.

Questions worth asking

Silk is a remarkably strong natural fiber, and ours is spun to hold up through tight contacts. If you have very tight spots or a sharp edge on a filling or crown, guide it through with a gentle sawing motion rather than snapping it down. That is good technique with any floss.

PTFE is the compound behind Teflon and belongs to the PFAS group, chemicals that resist breaking down and can accumulate in the body over time. It is widely used to coat floss because it glides. Since floss is drawn against gum tissue every day, some people would rather not introduce it at all. Fygg contains no PFAS of any kind.

Propolis is the resin honeybees collect to seal and protect their hive. It has been studied for antibacterial and gum-supporting properties. Infused into the strand, a small amount reaches the gumline as you floss, so a routine step also supports the tissue it touches.

No. Silk and bee propolis are both animal-derived, so this floss is not vegan. We would rather tell you plainly than have you find out after it arrives.

Yes. There are no harsh coatings, flavors, or dyes, and propolis is there specifically for gum support. If you have a known allergy to bees or bee products, check with your dentist first.

Free & Clear means no added flavor and no dye. Most floss mint is synthetic and it is masking the plastic, not cleaning anything. Silk tastes like nothing, which is the point. Your toothpaste can handle the mint.

The silk is Seri.co certified and made in Italy, meeting global standards for purity, sustainability, and safety. It is naturally biodegradable at the end of its life.

Feed your good guys, down to the gumline.

“Our practice really loves Fygg toothpaste and varnish! Very few oral hygiene products impress me, after 40 years in practice and these products do. They are truly clinically effective. When selecting nano-Hydroxyapatite products to recommend, sourcing of ingredients MATTERS. Fygg products are one of the few containing “NanoXIM” - it is safe and effective”

“We’ve incorporated Fygg varnish into our remineralization protocol. We avoid products with fluoride because they seal in the white spots. We’ve seen great results for the treatment of white spot lesions by having our patient buy a tube of Fygg varnish and apply it to the inside of their retainers and wear nightly. Beyond impressed by the results!”

Amazing change in floss

"I never really thought about floss until I read that most of it is coated in PTFE. This was an easy change. The silk is finer than the slick plastic stuff, but it doesn't shred between my tight back teeth, and there's no fake mint flavor to it. After a few weeks my gums feel calmer. It costs a little more than a drugstore spool, and I don't care, because it's the first floss I actually feel good about using twice a day."

one day ur young, the next ur excited about floss

"here I am getting excited about floss, but this stuff is the bomb. I love the zero waste, that it's made in Europe and not China or god knows where else, it's flavorless but very pleasant feeling/taste if that makes sense, and makes me actually look forward to flossing. my hygienist told me about it cuz I wasn't really flossing on a regular basis and boy was she right, this stuff is a really nice."

ginny r. (5/5)

Finally

"I’ve been stressing out the microplastics from flossing, but when I tried all the natural floss brands they’d either get stuck cause they wouldn’t slide between my teeth, or they’d just break too easily. This is the first one I’ve found where I don’t have to worry about the plastics and it actually slides between my teeth. No breaks yet, but I’m admittedly only a couple weeks in to using it"
